5 Simple Steps - Beat the Holiday Blues

What are the holiday blues?

We all know the feeling, the feeling of longing to be back chilling on a beach or sitting alfresco in the middle of a city with no worries and no responsibilities..

Bliss.. then life slaps us in the face and we’re back to work.

The term holiday blues is used to describe that low mood dip you feel during the holiday season, and most likely after returning home from a holiday away or getting back to work after some time off.

Symptoms:

  • Low mood

  • Difficulty concentrating

  • Sadness

  • Feeling lethargic

  • Loss of interest in things you would usually enjoy

  • Change in eating habits

5 Simple steps to beat the holiday blues and happily settle back into routine:

  1. Talk to Friends and Family.

No matter the reason why you’re feeling low, talking is always a good idea to share how you’re feeling and feel connected.

2. Plan ahead

Have something planned for when you’re home, something to look forward to.

Anything from a Concert to a Picnic with friends.

3. A clean home

Clean your home before you go away so you return to a clean and tidy space.

This is a must for me!

Stress-free and inviting.

4. Have a Goal in mind

Know your life goals and continue to work towards them to create your dream life.

Get excited for whats next.

5. Be kind to Yourself

We are all different, if you recharge better with a coffee and a book then do that!

There’s no need to rush back into everyday life saying yes to everything, take a step back and relax. Give yourself time.

I used to get the holiday blues a lot more than I do now and I mostly put that down to the fact I enjoy my daily life a lot more now.. however, you can still love your job, and daily life and still get the holiday blues.

Making sure you are coming back to an inviting, clean space as well as feeling excited and passionate about your daily life will not only boost your mood back up and keep the holiday blues away but also keep your motivation and passion alive to keep you going after your dreams and achieve your goals.
